The Heritage Hat is an unstructured ripstop nylon cap with a round Andar Sporting Club patch on the front, circling a monogram and a small “15” for the year Andar started. Around the back, an embroidered “11” marks this year, the 11th since then, so the beginning and the present ride along on the same hat. It’s the one you pull on before heading out the door, when the sun’s still low and the plans for the day are loose.
The ripstop nylon is light enough to forget you’re wearing it and tough enough to take a few seasons of being tossed in a bag. With no stiff structure in the crown, it folds down easily and pops back into shape when you put it on. A snapback closure dials in the fit, and by the end of the summer, the brim has settled into whatever curve you gave it.
